The city of Malaga is the capital of the Province of Malaga, belonging to Andalusia, an autonomous community in Spain. In Andalusia, it is the second largest city, being the sixth largest town in the entire Spain. It is also one of the oldest cities in the world, having a history that dates back 2,800 years ago. Because of this, the city is considered to be an open air museum, multiple archeological sites and remains of the ancient times, such as the ones from the Romans, Arabic, Phoenicians, and Christians, are all present in the old historic center of the city. This rich cultural background and artistic heritage made Malaga the European Capital of Culture in 2016. Tourism is also flourishing here, because it lies on Costa del Sol of the Mediterranean, enjoying beautiful weather and wide beaches.
